Online ID photo maker: a 35×45 mm photo and a printable sheet (9×13, 10×15 or 13×18 cm), free, right in your browser.
Choose a photo where you look straight into the camera and your whole head is clearly visible. We do the rest: align it to your face, crop it to 35×45 mm and, if you like, whiten the background.
File requirements and photo tips
- JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MB (on an iPhone the photo turns into a JPG automatically when you pick it)
- the shorter side is at least 800 pixels, and the face is clear and sharp
- only you in the photo, looking straight into the camera with a neutral expression
- no hat or sunglasses, even light, no shadows
- tip: many documents need a photo that is not older than 6 months
🔒 Your photo is processed in your browser. We do not upload it to our server.
Preparing your photo…
Your photo stays in your browser. We do not upload it.
Drag the photo to fine-tune it. The shaded bands show where the top of the head and the chin should be.
A green mark means the photo meets the size standard. The authority decides whether it is accepted.
Download
The photo itself carries no text, as that could cause problems for official use. dobofoto.hu appears only on the print sheet.
How to make an ID photo online in 3 steps
- Photo: choose an existing photo, or take one now with your phone. Look straight into the camera with your whole head in the frame.
- Align: the tool finds your face, crops the photo to 35×45 mm and scales it so your head is 32–36 mm tall. You can fine-tune it with zoom, rotation and dragging. Six checks show what is fine and what still needs adjusting.
- Download: get a single photo (35×45 mm, 600 dpi) or a printable sheet for 9×13, 10×15 or 13×18 cm paper.
No sign-up and nothing to install. Everything runs in your browser, on your phone or computer.
Private by design: your photo never leaves your device
Face detection, cropping, background whitening and the print sheet are all done in your own browser. We do not upload your photo to our server, we do not store it, and we never see it. When you close the page, the photo only stays where you saved it.
Many online passport photo sites upload your picture and only remove the watermark after payment. Here there is no upload, and there is no watermark on your photo.
Photo sizes: 35×45 mm, in pixels, and the US 2×2 inch photo
- 35×45 mm (3.5×4.5 cm): the most common ID and visa photo size, and the size this tool makes. The head, from crown to chin, is 32–36 mm.
- In pixels: 413×531 at 300 dpi, 827×1063 at 600 dpi. A single download is an 827×1063 pixel JPG.
- US visa: needs a 2×2 inch (51×51 mm) photo. The tool cannot make this size at the moment.
Visa photos: Schengen and consulates
Most Schengen countries ask for a 35×45 mm photo with a plain light background, so the tool is a good fit. Requirements still differ from country to country, so always check the consulate's photo rules before you submit.
Living in Hungary? What the kormányablak does
In Hungary you do not need to bring a photo for a Hungarian ID card, passport, driving licence or student card. The government office (kormányablak) takes your photo on the spot.
You may still need a printed photo for other things, such as a public transport pass (3.5×4.5 cm), a visa or a document from another country, a CV, or an access or membership card.
Print at home or in a lab: 9×13, 10×15 (4×6") and 13×18 sheets
Choose your paper size when you download the sheet: 2 or 4 photos on 9×13 cm, 4 or 6 on 10×15 cm, and 4, 6, 8 or 9 on 13×18 cm, all at 300 dpi.
The photos start 5 mm from the top of the sheet, with a 0.5 mm cutting margin on each side and optional thin cutting lines. Almost every photo lab and photo kiosk prints 10×15 cm. Print at actual size (100%), without scaling.
Tips for a good passport photo at home
- Light: face a window in daylight. Flash and strong side light cast shadows.
- Background: stand in front of a plain, light wall. Background whitening helps, but a plain wall gives cleaner edges.
- Distance: hold the phone about an arm's length away, at eye level. If you can, ask someone else to take it, or use the self-timer.
- Face: neutral expression, mouth closed, head straight, hair away from your face.
- Clothes and glasses: wear a plain top that contrasts with the background. Many authorities do not accept glasses, so take them off if you can.
Frequently asked questions
Is this ID photo maker really free, with no watermark?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, and your photo has no watermark. The print sheet only has a small line of text in the margin, outside the photos.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Your photo is processed in your browser. It never reaches our server, and we never see it.
What size is a 35×45 mm photo in pixels?
413×531 pixels at 300 dpi and 827×1063 pixels at 600 dpi.
Can I take a passport photo at home with my phone?
Yes. Take a photo in front of a plain, light wall in even light. The tool crops and aligns it to 35×45 mm, and you can print the sheet in any photo lab.
What photo do I need for a Schengen visa?
Most Schengen countries ask for a 35×45 mm photo with a plain light background. Always check the consulate's own rules before you submit.
Can I make a US visa photo here?
Not at the moment. A US visa needs a 2×2 inch (51×51 mm) photo, and this tool makes 35×45 mm photos.
How do I print ID photos on a 10×15 (4×6") sheet?
Download the 10×15 cm sheet and print it in a photo lab or at a photo kiosk. Print at actual size (100%) so each photo is exactly 35×45 mm.
Can I use it for a Hungarian ID card or passport?
No need: in Hungary the government office (kormányablak) takes the photo for ID cards, passports, driving licences and student cards on the spot.
What background is accepted, and does the tool whiten it?
Use a plain, light background. Background whitening separates you from the background and replaces it with an even light one. You can turn it off.
Will my photo pass the official check?
The tool checks the size and alignment, but the authority always makes the final decision. If you want to be sure, we can take your photo in our studio.
